Today. Today's shot is another attempt to accommodate a photo request. This suggestion came from Lisa who wanted to see a shot of these old guys playing chess near North Ave Beach. Almost immediately after I fired off a few shots, these guys started to leave. I looked at my LCD and saw that my focus was on the guy in the background and not on the two guys playing chess like I had hoped. When I got home I decided to try a piece of software called Golden Crop. Golden Crop is a photoshop plugin that basically suggests ways for you to crop the shot such that your point of focus, and other important aspects of the shot fall into places that follow the basic principles of composition. One of those being the Rule of Thirds, and another being the Golden Ratio. As you can see below the man falls in a good spot for both of those, and afterall he does have a lot of character! I have also included the original photo untouched.
